Overview
The Rotary Club of Silchar paid solemn homage to the 11 martyrs of the historic Language Movement on the occasion of Bhasha Shahid Diwas. The tribute was offered on 19th May at Gandhibagh Park (Sahid Bedi), Silchar, the revered Martyrs’ Monument dedicated to the memory of the 11 brave individuals who sacrificed their lives on 19th May 1961 during the historic Language Movement.
Members of the club gathered to honor the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering spirit of the language martyrs whose contributions remain an integral part of the history and identity of the Barak Valley. Floral tributes and prayers were offered as a mark of deep respect and remembrance.
The observance reflected the club’s commitment to preserving the rich cultural heritage and paying tribute to those who fought for the rightful recognition of the Bengali language.
